CHAPTER 11
Unless we begin to trust each other and think less for self or equally and more for everyone, unless the differences were themselves familiar and this was a way of life. We could hit the millennium goals for all, unless we were each other’s keepers.
THE DUAL KEEPERS
A hornbill
Reached a nesting tree
And enquired
For a vacancy.
She was looking for a
Temporary stay
Over the summer
Till she laid.
Away from home
In an alien land
The tree in return expected a company
They sat together
Witnessing the ocean
And the waves.
The reverberations equalled
In and out.
They shared, hummed
And dovetailed.
The Autumn separated them.
Back into their worlds
They were.
And the winter
Tested them
As keepers
Of promises, trusts and secrets.
